Award for Excellence in Doctoral Studies
On 7 November 2024, Ondřej Schindler, a member of the Structural Bioinformatics research group, was awarded the prestigious Vice-Rector's Award for Excellence in Doctoral Studies.
At the end of September, Masaryk University officially accredited a new Bachelor's degree programme in Bioinformatics, which is now complemented by a newly approved follow-up Master's programme.
The follow-up Master's degree programme is formally sponsored by the Faculty of Science, but teaching in it is still carried out in close cooperation with the Faculty of Informatics.
This programme offers three concentrations (Structural Bioinformatics and Drug Design, Sequential Bioinformatics, and Computational Systems Biology), which students choose according to their preferences at the end of the first semester. Tomáš Raček from the Structural Bioinformatics research group has contributed to the preparation of this programme.
More information about this programme can be found on its website [Czech only]. Applications can be submitted starting January 1, 2025, with the first students entering the program in the Fall 2025 semester.
