On 7 November 2024, Ondřej Schindler, a member of the Structural Bioinformatics research group, was awarded the prestigious Vice-Rector's Award for Excellence in Doctoral Studies. As part of his PhD studies, he has been working on the development and availability of empirical methods for calculating partial atomic charge. He published his results in the article αCharges: partial atomic charges for AlphaFold structures in high quality in the Nucleic Acids Research.

Together with Ondřej, his supervisor Radka Svobodová, and consultant Tomáš Raček received the award for their significant contribution to his research work. The award was presented by the Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies, Prof. Šárka Pospíšilová, at a ceremony in the Karel Engliš Grand Auditorium at the Faculty of Law. Congratulations!
